St. Mary’s Alumnae Association to Relumine Talents, SMAART is the ex- students association of St. Mary’s Convent High School, Mulund West. SMAART was founded in the year 2012 under the leadership and guidance of Sr. Mary Jude, the ex-principal of the school [ mention duration as Principal ] and a few of the senior teachers of St. Mary’s School. Based on the ideologies of Mary Ward, the foundress of the institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Congregation of Jesus (CJ), SMAART was built with 3 main objectives:
In order for SMAART to run efficiently, it is structured into the Managing Committee, Executive Council and Core Members. The Managing Committee is selected by the Founding Team. The Core Members consist of representatives of each of the batches and the Executive Council consists of members elected by the Managing Committee and Core Members. The members of the Executive Council are responsible to execute the activities that have been planned by the Managing Committee and Core team.
Over the last decade, SMAART, through various re-union meet-ups, volunteer driven activities, social media, etc., has connected with over 3000 of their alumnae. More than 200 ex-students have volunteered at various SMAART events organized in the school.
Many alumnae have also contributed financially to help meet some of the needs of the school and students.
Alumnae who have the time, knowledge and expertise have conduct varied programs, camps, informative and educational sessions to help the students and faculty.
The most popular initiative of SMAART is SPARKZ – An annual Inter-school Debate Competition hosted at St. Mary’s Convent School. Students from the secondary section of 15+ schools from in and around Mulund, have participated in the 2 editions of the event this far.
Any ex-student who has passed Std X from of St. Mary’s is considered an alumna of the school.
