ST. MARY'S CONVENT HIGH SCHOOL, MULUND WEST, MUMBAI

About Us

C.J (I.B.M.V) VISION OF EDUCATION

We, the Mary Ward women in the education ministry, keeping Jesus as our model, aim at forming fearless and vibrant citizens, who are able to face the challenges of life.

Believing that education is not only to create individuals who are intellectually competent, morally sound, psychologically whole, imbued with the sense of the divine, but also are a powerful agent of social transformation, we move towards the empowerment of women and forming of children, inculcating in them a sense of justice, religious tolerance, compassion and love.

Making them aware of the value system of the world in which they live, they are enabled to analyze it critically and make responsible decisions for themselves.

They are led to appreciate God's creation, value life, human dignity and potential and thus pursue fullness of life.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF OUR EDUCATION PROGRAMME

Our School endeavours to be an academic community characterised by a shared vision, responsibility and mutual love.

1.An Academic Community

  • All the members of this community specially the staff, aim at the achievement of a common vision of promoting education and its goals. With this in view, there are periodic refresher courses and meetings for discussion and reflection, as well as programmes for the personal and spiritual growth of the staff, with sufficient opportunities for free, mutual and friendly interaction among all members.
  • Community spirit is fostered with a feeling of togetherness at religious and social gatherings.

Committed to Integral Education of all Students

  • To promote and develop a wholesome, integrated personality which enables a student to be an independent individual and face problems and trials in a healthy manner. Therefore , no student is excluded for reasons merely related to her economic status.
  • Special attention is paid to the moral, spiritual, intellectual, physical, psychological and vocational needs of the student.
  • In this process of education, students are taught not mere passive reception, but active participation. They learn to reflect and analyze on their own.
  • Hence opportunities are made available where students can develop their various skills like communication, creativity, imagination and aesthetic sense.
  • Students are helped to gain realistic knowledge, love and acceptance of self, and the concept of competing against self, rather than the other is encouraged.
  • Religious instruction includes prayer and worship and opportunities to reflect on life from a spiritual perspective.

A Just and Humane Society

To prepare a student to be responsible and actively helping to build a just and humane society.

  • A realistic awareness of the evils in society and opportunities for development is created in the child not by precept alone, but through practice in class by interaction between teachers and students, students and students, also by exposing them to the environment outside. Opportunities for guided contact with the poor and service to them are also given. This is preceded and followed by reflection.
  • Respect and appreciation for every individual, dignity of labour and habits of sharing and reconciliation are promoted.
  • In special instance, the school intervenes actively as an Institution, in human and civil rights issues at local and wider levels.

An Awareness of God's love, His care and concern is created. There is an emphasis on :

  • Devotion to God, reaching out to mankind spiritually and physically, whenever possible and necessary.
  • The teaching of Catholic Doctrine to Catholic students and Ethics to others, is taken up with loyalty and sense of responsibility.
  • All activities taken up, create a conviction, that everything is done for the Greater Glory of God. This enables every one to live life to the fullest and be a pride to womanhood, in accordance with God's plan.
